About the Tracker
The Smart Surfaces Policy Tracker is a repository of information on Smart Surfaces policies from cities around the United States, and including items from towns, villages, counties, states, and other subnational jurisdictions. The tracker contains, for example, portions of zoning and building codes, procurement policies, comprehensive plans, green stormwater infrastructure regulations, and more.
While we endeavor to ensure that the information contained in this tracker is accurate and current, the policies described are offered for educational purposes only as a starting point for policymakers and other stakeholders to begin their research into a particular topic. No one should rely on information in this database as proof that a particular policy is as described herein or is currently being enforced. The tracker contains examples of policies, but is not exhaustive.
This tracker is a joint project of the Smart Surfaces Coalition and the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law. Initial research into many of the policies described on this site was undertaken by the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance.
