Albany Ordinance Defining Green Roofs

The City Code, Part 2, Article 6, Section 375-602 defines green roofs as vegetative roofing systems designed to improve stormwater management, reduce heat island effects, and promote environmental sustainability. However, the code stops short of mandating green roof installation on new or existing buildings and does not offer any financial or regulatory incentives — such as tax abatements, density bonuses, or expedited permitting — to encourage their voluntary adoption.
