The City of Bethlehem published a Climate Action Plan in 2021 that emphasizes the importance of extreme heat and stormwater flood mitigation. The Plan sets goals to improvement stormwater management through the use of green infrastructure, manage urban heat island with the passage of a cool roof ordinance, and to equitably preserve and expand the City’s urban tree canopy. The Plan also includes goals to increase the use of native plants in landscaping at city-owned properties, and increase the use of solar PV.
