Big Flats Zoning Ordinance Highly Encouraging Feasible Use of Pervious Materials

These Big Flats zoning ordinances highly encourage the use of porous or pervious materials — such as porous asphalt, concrete, crushed stone, and permeable pavers — in parking areas where feasible, to promote stormwater infiltration and reduce runoff. (Big Flats, N.Y., Zoning Ordinance § 17.48.010). Landscaping standards also encourage the use of porous surfaces in interior vehicular areas to mitigate pavement impacts and enhance water absorption. Maintenance plans are required to ensure long-term effectiveness. (Big Flats, N.Y., Zoning Ordinance § 17.21.80).
