Biloxi Sustainable Design Ordinance

This Biloxi ordinance establishes that site plans for nonresidential, mixed-use, and multifamily residential development must incorporate a sufficient number of sustainable design options to achieve the minimum number of points required for the specific type of development. Sustainable design options include green roofs, herb or vegetable gardens, landscaped and tree-lined medians, permeable parking and sidewalk surfaces, rain gardens, solar panels, and white roofs. A number of other sustainable design options may be included in designs to receive bonuses like an increase in allowed residential density or height of building. These options include solar-ready building, community garden installation, reflective pavement, stormwater retention ponds, and tree canopy preservation.
