Brookings Street Tree Plan and Permitting

Brookings’s Code of Ordinances § 62-130 declares that the park and recreation advisory board is directed to design and establish a plan for the orderly development of boulevards along the city streets to reduce conflicts with other public uses of the boulevard and streets, to facilitate care of the city’s trees, and to make this city a more attractive one in which to live. Additionally, § 62-133. – Permission required states that no person, except upon order of the park and recreation advisory board may plant, transplant, move, spray, brace, trim, prune, cut above or below the ground, disturb, alter or do surgery on any public tree or shrub within the city or cause such acts to be done by others without first obtaining permission for such work from the director of parks, recreation and forestry.
