Carson City Design Standards for Rooftop Solar Panels

Sec. 18.1.1.7 Roof-mounted solar panels, unless attached to historic buildings, are excluded from the requirement that they be screened from view from a public right-of-way and adjacent property but their mechanical support and accessory mechanical equipment shall be screened architecturally. Solar panels on the roof of historic buildings must be placed so they are inconspicuous from the street and in such a manner that no damage is done to any character defining features of the building (Sec. 18.5.14).
