City of Martinsburg Landscaping Requirements

The code establishes standard landscaping requirements across several key areas: General Landscaping, Street Trees, and Parking Lots. For parking areas, it specifically mandates the inclusion of perimeter trees and shrubs, requires 5% interior landscaping for larger lots, and ensures a continuous shrub screen to separate them from the street.  The ordinance also details specific plant selection criteria and planting methods. Maintenance of all landscaping is required to ensure its health and vitality. Additionally, a Tree Credits system allows for existing trees to contribute toward landscaping requirements, and a list of prohibited plant species is provided.
