Cleveland City Planning Commission Sustainable Development Policy

Cleveland promotes the preservation and expansion of its open space, natural habitats, tree coverage, and sensitive lands by protecting wetlands, streams, forests, and other environmentally sensitive features, improving the quality of existing open space, in part by restoring its natural functions, and acquiring additional open space in underserved areas and increasing vegetative cover in the City to help decrease the urban heat island effect caused by impermeable surfaces.
