Columbia Policy Identifying GSI as Best Practices for Stormwater Control

The Best Management Practice Design Manual developed by the City of Columbia Utilities and Engineering Department’s Stormwater Division lists several pieces of green infrastructure which are encouraged for general use as “General Application Controls.” This means they are recommended for a wide variety of land uses and development types. The pieces of infrastructure are: Stormwater ponds, bioretention areas, infiltration trenches/basins and enhanced swales. The guide also indicates that properties with on-site detention and retention facilities can receive a credit against their stormwater services charge.
