Cullman Conservation Subdivision Standards and Open Space Protection

This ordinance provides guidelines for conservation subdivisions, requiring flexible development to preserve open spaces, protect sensitive environmental features, and reduce land disturbance. At least 25% of the tract must be preserved as open space, with priority given to areas like floodplains, wetlands, riparian zones, and slopes. Open space must support passive or conservation-oriented uses and be protected in perpetuity through legal instruments such as conservation easements. The ordinance also encourages greenways, walking paths, and connections to neighboring areas to enhance accessibility and community benefit.
