Fayetteville Landscaping and Tree Protection Standards

The goals of these standards include: protecting and retaining existing tree canopy and specimen trees during and after development; ensuring and encouraging the planting, maintenance, restoration and survival of trees, shrubs, and other plants; reducing stormwater runoff and the costs associated therewith; increasing the tree canopy to provide shade and moderate the effect of urban heat islands; etc.

Includes the following provisions:
– Required plantings by type of use – detached single family (exempt), other household living (four canopy trees per acre) all other (two canopy trees per acre).
– Requirements for tree/plant diversity proportionate to the number of trees planted
– Parking lots: One tree for every 12 parking spaces in interior of parking lot.
