Fort Collins Glare Prevention Policy

The Fort Collins glare prevention policy regulates glare and heat in community development to protect neighborhoods from excessive light that may impair visibility and create safety hazards, as well as from reflected heat. It requires that any intense glare or heat generated by an activity be contained within an enclosed building or effectively screened to be imperceptible at the property line. For outdoor manufacturing processes that produce glare, such as welding, additional year-round screening measures are required to minimize impacts.
