Gadsden Stormwater Design, BMP Manual, and Management Plan Requirements

This section adopts the Alabama Handbook for Erosion Control, Sediment Control, and Stormwater Management as the city’s BMP manual, establishing standards for stormwater management and erosion control. All stormwater designs must address peak flow rates, reduce runoff to pre-construction levels, and incorporate low-impact development (LID) and green infrastructure wherever feasible. Developers must submit comprehensive stormwater management plans, including hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, sediment and erosion control plans, and maintenance agreements. Plans must detail site topography, drainage systems, BMPs, and landscaping to ensure compliance with the BMP manual and city standards.
