Goals and Objectives for Bentonville Landscaping and Buffers

Bentonville’s Land Development Code chapter on landscaping, screening, and buffering articulates several of the Smart Surfaces benefits that vegetated spaces offer. Specifically, the code notes that objectives of preserving vegetation include decreasing “the overall cost of development by decreasing the cost of stormwater systems and facilities,” creating “a healthier environment by decreasing chemicals and sediments that wash into the water supply,” and reducing the urban heat island effect.
