Grand Junction Tree Protection Policy

The Grand Junction tree protection policy requires contractors to replace any trees removed from City rights-of-way during their work. The replacement ratio is one 2.5-inch diameter tree for every 6 inches of trunk diameter removed, with a maximum replacement size of 5 inches in diameter. The City Manager determines the species of replacement trees, which must be planted using appropriate methods such as balling and burlapping.
