Honolulu Renewable Water Heater Mandate

This Honolulu Ordinance requires the use of solar, wind, or other renewable source supplies for more than 90% of energy for water heating. It provides that no building permits will be issued for new single-family dwellings that do not include a solar water heater system, unless the chief energy officer of Hawaii state energy office approves a variance.
