Hood River Municipal Code to Manage Urban Forestry

The rule establishes processes and standards that will minimize uncontrolled cutting or destruction of trees and vegetation within Hood River, in recognition of the value of the urban forest for its effect on air quality and wildlife habitat, and as a noise barrier and visual contrast to the developed urban environment. It also establishes the Shade Tree Committee, which is a committee designated by the City Council to advise the City with respect to public trees and urban forestry matters generally. The duties of the Shade Tree Committee include the review of the planting plan of street trees within planting strips on any new street for conformity with the City’s specifications and standards of practice.
