Kansas City Ordinance Establishing Requirements for Street Trees and Landscaping

This Kansas City zoning ordinance establishes minimum requirements for street tree planting, parking lot landscaping, and buffers for outdoor work and loading areas. At least one street tree is required for each 30 feet of street frontage. Parking lots adjacent to public right-of-way must feature perimeter landscaping that includes both trees and ground cover. On a case to case basis, the city planner can make allowances for green infrastructure with equal effectiveness to traditional landscaping like on-street flower boxes and green roofs.
