Las Cruces Landscaping Standards for the University Avenue Corridor Overlay Zone District

This rule establishes landscaping standards for the University Avenue Corridor Overlay Zone District which includes: (1) Landscaping for new development within the district shall be provided to cover 20 percent of the parking area for each parcel. Parking area shall be defined as the surface area of a parcel, excluding building area; (2) In addition to the required landscaping percentage specified in subsection (b) of this section, all commercial, office, duplex and garden apartment developments shall be required to plant trees within parking lots for shade and visual relief. One tree shall be planted for every five parking spaces within parking lots as they pertain to the uses listed for each area; (3) Landscape shall be defined as: One two-inch caliper tree, 15 five-gallon shrubs and a choice of either five one-gallon shrubs or 50 square feet of groundcover, for every 500 square feet of lot area excluding building area and parking lot area
