Lewiston, Maine Community Forest Ordinance

Lewiston’s Community Forest ordinance aims to protect trees in order to absorb carbon dioxide, reduce stormwater runoff, and reduce energy costs. For this purpose, the city has created Lewiston-Auburn Community Forest Board, a forest management plan, a municipal arborist, and a community forest fund supplied by timber harvest revenue.
