Nashville Green Building Standards Ordinance

This Nashville ordinance establishes that the city will develop an energy management plan to reduce energy and water use across public buildings. The program aims to retrofit at least 9% of metro government-owned buildings by square footage between 2021 and 2024, focusing on those with aging systems, with a target of reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. Additionally, a LEED™ Zero retrofit program will be implemented across at least 12.5% of buildings between 2026 and 2032. Renewable energy certificates (RECs) may be used as part of these retrofit efforts.
