New Haven Tree and Vegetation Development Requirements

New Haven requires that public plazas have at least 15% of their area as planting beds and include a minimum of four trees (with more required for plazas over 10,000 sq ft), with specific soil, planting, and tree-spacing requirements to ensure sustainability. At least half of the required trees must be planted at grade with proper soil access, using native and climate-appropriate species.
