Under Article 23.10 of the City’s zoning code, private trees with a diameter at breast height of six inches or more must be preserved on development sites unless a specific exemption applies. Exceptions generally apply where preserving a tree could be a danger to people or structures nearby. Generally, trees that are removed for meeting an exception to this section must be replaced with a tree of the same species in a setting that will not pose the same hazard.
