Newark Sustainability Action Plan

The Sustainability Action Plan offers a vision of a community plan to make Newark a healthy, vibrant, and sustainable city. The document incorporates input of residents and organizational leaders who attended meetings and participated in Sustainability Office activities. This Sustainability Action Plan lays out strategies for making Newark’s environment a positive force in the life of the city. It articulates a policy framework of four policy goals: (1) improved public health; (2) cost savings; (3) enhanced quality of life; and (4) expanded green economic opportunity for Newarkers. It also identifies several priority action items regarding air quality; energy; recycling and materials management; stormwater management and community greening; greenhouse gas emissions; and healthy food access.
