Newport Municipal Code for Tree Removal and Replacement

This rule establishes requirements for tree removal and replacement in Newport. Any person granted a tree removal permit shall replace each removed tree with at least one mitigation tree on the same property. In lieu of replacing trees, the applicant may propose to pay into the City tree fund an amount equivalent to the value of the mitigation trees after installation, and any unspent funds shall be carried forward year to year for the purpose of maintaining the City’s urban forest.
