North Carolina Statute Encouraging Leasing of Solar Energy Facilities

“As a matter of public policy it is in the interest of the State to encourage the leasing of solar energy facilities for retail customers and subscription to shared community solar energy facilities.” Per this statute, Duke Energy Corp. and Dominion Energy Corp. offer utility net metering programs to enable customers to connect their renewable energy system to the power grid and to receive credits for extra electricity provided to the grid and not consumed
