North Las Vegas Paving Materials Sustainability Options

The purpose of the North Las Vegas Code of Ordinances § 17.24.140 is to promote sustainable development. Developments are recommended to follow certain sustainable site and building design options to promote the design and construction of energy efficient buildings; encourage on-site renewable energy production; reduce air, water, and land pollution from energy consumption; and reduce the urban heat island effect.

Design features related to paving include:
1. using paving materials with Solar Reflectance Index of at least 45. Base solar reflectance code requirements are in Section 17.24.140.C to reduce solar gain and the urban heat island effect.
