For building design/construction, architectural design should take into account the solar consequences of building height, bulk, and area to provide maximize public comfort by providing shaded public outdoor areas, minimizing glare (especially from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), and facilitating breezes. Building exposures subject to solar intensity, should minimize the use of glass and provide landscaping and architectural surface relief to reduce heat gain on the building itself and be designed in a climate responsive manner to conserve energy.
