Pittsburgh Environmental Performance Standards

This policy is intended to protect environmental areas and to support new development that will make Pittsburgh more livable and resilient. No structure or land use may be located, erected, constructed, reconstructed, moved, altered, demolished, converted, enlarged or designed to be so, except in conformance the provisions of this Section. The policy establishes bonuses for sustainable development in non-residential zoning districts, and includes points for complying with IECC total building performance criteria, designing and constructing buildings with no gas or fossil-fuel fired equipment, complying with IECC’s Zero Energy Commercial Building Provisions, generating energy on-site, managing stormwater with “Preferred Stormwater Management Technology installations,” and providing solar shade canopies over parking. The policy also sets addition tree protection and replacement requirements.
