Portland Embodied Carbon Thresholds for Concrete Mixes on City Projects

Portland’s thresholds set limits on the embodied carbon that may be in concrete mixes used on city projects. The city has adopted a scale keyed to the concrete strength needed from the mix, and has created both a list of preapproved concrete mix designs and an avenue for submitting documentation to approve a mix not on the preapproved list. The requirements went into effect January 1, 2023.
