Reading Stormwater Management Policy

Reading’s stormwater management policy requires all development to submit a drainage plan, and requires that a developed area maximize the groundwater recharge capacity of that area, prioritizing infiltration-based stormwater management strategies. The policy also includes a requirement that developers create stream buffers in all cases where a perennial or intermittent stream passes through the development site, and encourages developers to use native vegetation as described in Appendix H of Pennsylvania Handbook of Best Management Practices for Developing Areas.
