Rhode Island’s Stormwater Management Rules and Guidance

Rhode Island’s stormwater management manual addresses stormwater quantity and quality and emphasizes low impact development methods. In the manual, land uses with higher pollutant loads are required to use BMPs like wet vegetated treatment systems, green roofs, and swales. All sites must document how their plans protect natural drainage areas, minimize impervious surfaces, and provide pervious surfaces to absorb runoff.
