San José Stormwater Management Policy

The San José stormwater management policy requires low impact development (LID) strategies for all projects that create or replace more than 10,000 square feet of impervious surfaces, all parking lots and auto services facilities that create or replace more than 5,000 square feet of impervious surfaces, and all large redevelopment projects that were not originally subject to stormwater control measures. Smaller developments—more than 2,500 square feet but less than 10,000 square feet—also have to incorporate low impact development. These LID strategies include rainwater harvesting and reuse, infiltration, evapotranspiration, and biotreatment.
