Scranton Stormwater Management Standards

Scranton’s stormwater management policy requires that green infrastructure and Low-Impact Development methods must be used to manage runoff from all properties to the maximum extent practicable, up to the two-year 24-hour rainfall. Alternatively, compliance can be achieved by capturing at least the first two inches of runoff from all new impervious surfaces, the first inch of which must be “permanently removed from the runoff flow – i.e., it shall not be released into the surface waters of this commonwealth. Removal options include reuse, evaporation, transpiration, and infiltration.”
