All major facility projects in the state must achieve of a score of at least two globes on the Green Globes Rating System or the LEED Silver Standard. Major facility projects include state-funded new construction projects greater than 10,000 square feet, or state funded renovation projects that involve more than 50% of the replacement value of the facility or a change in occupancy, but is subject to certain exceptions, most notably school buildings. At least twenty percent of the points under the Green Globes system or 40% of the points under the LEED Silver system must come from energy performance, both rating systems take into account permeable pavement, onsite renewable energy, and cool and green roofs.
