South Carolina Environmentally Preferred Purchasing Policy

The Environmentally Preferred Purchasing Policy encourages agencies to lease or build buildings which utilize “Green Landscaping,” which is defined in part as measures to “reduce water pollution and heat-island effect by reducing the amount of impervious surfaces in the landscape” and calls for “[p]permeable substitutes such as pervious concrete or pavers . . . for walkways, patios, driveways and low-volume traffic areas.”
