South Carolina Low Impact Development Planning and Design Guide

This manual outlines the rationale for LID as a management tool to protect and restore coastal resources. It aims to 1) Minimize stormwater impacts to the extent practicable; 2) Provide runoff storage measures placed throughout a site’s landscape by using a variety of detention, retention, and infiltration practices; and 3) Maintain predevelopment time of concentration by strategically routing flows to maintain travel time and control the discharge. Describes regional planning strategies, conservation and preservation methods, and a guide to stormwater best management practices, including permeable pavement systems, green roofs, and wetlands.
