Tempe Sustainability and Resilience Commission

Purpose of the commission is to bring stakeholders together to share best practices and promote partnerships and collaborations to create sustainable and resilient solutions to Tempe’s most pressing challenges. The Commission will have the power and duties to research, advise, and recommend to the City Council policies, programs, and investments that advance sustainability in Tempe, in order to support principles of equitable well-being, healthy environments, and satisfying livelihoods for current and future generations. Particular attention shall be paid to: energy management, climate-action plan with roadmap of action, purchasing practices, water management, air quality, transportation, livable neighborhoods, land use development, preparedness and resiliency, and environmental justice. Commission will recommend for City Council consideration a comprehensive sustainability plan with measurable goals and benchmarks to ensure year-to-year progress.
