Virginia Law Establishing Localities’ Rights to Tree Protections

This Virginia state law establishes that localities have the right to maintain shade trees in and on public rights-of-way and establish reasonable rules for protecting public trees during construction. Localities can also adopt a tree conservation ordinance that requires varying levels of canopy cover for different development types.
